Immersive Landscape

Immersive Landscape

I love that moment, being out in nature, when suddenly everything else falls away except the sights, sounds and smells which surround you. The stresses and hang-ups of modern life are replaced by a heightened awareness of the light falling on the ocean, the wind in the trees or the smell of wet earth or tree-bark baking in the sun.
That all-encompassing experience is difficult to reproduce in photographs, but the closest I can get is with my giant panoramas. This one can be printed up to 6 feet wide and displayed as one long image; or in sections, mimicking a scene through several windows.

Perception

Reflections have always fascinated me. Their source, in reality, is apparent, but their translation through the medium of water makes them something entirely different — mysterious and open to interpretation.

passage of time

passage of time

Getting away from the humdrum of life and into the great outdoors, allows space for contemplation and leaves the ties to time behind.

In a Dream

In a Dream

I remember getting to this location at the end of a long day, and a nap in the car (no I wasn’t driving!). Pulling out the camera in my half-asleep state, and looking at this scene, I felt that I could still perhaps be dreaming.
